Certificate IV in Financial Services (Personal Trust Administration) FNS40204

The TCA has entered into a partnership with UWS College to offer Certificate IV in Financial Services (Personal Trust Administration) FNS40204 via web based learning.

UWS College Pty Ltd is wholly owned by University of Western Sydney and is a Registered Training Organisation.

As with the previous TCA program, UWS College will offer the units during two semesters each year. By completing thirteen units from the qualification you will receive Certificate IV in Financial Services (Personal Trust Administration). Alternatively, you can complete selected units from the Certificate, and receive a Statement of Attainment for those units.

Who should do this course?

The Certificate IV in Financial Services (Personal Trust Administration) is designed for people currently working in the Personal Trust industry who:

  • administer estates
  • administer trusts
  • prepare Wills for clients
  • establish and administer Powers of Attorney
and who wish to
  • improve their knowledge of the sector
  • improve their job performance
  • obtain an industry qualification
  • enhance their promotional opportunities

Do I need to complete the whole qualification?

You may complete individual units or the whole qualification.

Which units do I need to do for the whole qualification?

If you wish to attain the Certificate IV in Financial Services (Personal Trust Administration) you need to complete one of the following:
FNSPERT301A Establish Entitlements to an Intestate Estate;
FNSPERT302A Administer a Non-complex Estate;
FNSPERT303A Administer a Non-complex Trust
plus all other remaining units (FNSICGEN301A / 302A / 304A / 401A and FNSPERT402A / 403A / 404A / 405A / 406A / 407A /501A / 502A) in the table above.

Are there pre-requisites? There are no formal pre-requisites, although it is recommended that:
FNSPERT301A be completed prior to or concurrently with FNSPERT402A;
FNSPERT302A be completed prior to or concurrently with FNSPERT404A; and
FNSPERT303A be completed prior to or concurrently with FNSPERT405A.

What are the semester dates for 2008?

  • Semester 1 commences 10 March and ends 30 May.
    (Enrolments due 22 February)
  • Semester 2 commences 11 August and ends 31 October.
    (Enrolments due 25 July)

The program will be delivered via University of Western Sydney's online learning platform, vUWS. When you enrol, you will be given access to learner guides, unit resources, self test quiz and assessment requirements on-line. You will also be able to contact others enrolled in the same unit(s), the unit trainer and course administration.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will typically consist of written answers to questions, responses to case studies and completion of work related tasks, based on the unit(s) of competency. Other assessment methods, such as work based projects or tests, may be used from time to time.

When will I be assessed?

Each unit will have a date for assessments to be submitted. These dates will be notified at the commencement of each semester.

Late assessment fee

A late assessment fee of $65 per assessment will be charged where an assessment is received after the completion date for the unit.

What happens if I'm not successful?

You will be notified whether you are 'Competent' or 'Not Yet Competent' for each unit at the end of the semester. If you haven't demonstrated competency you will receive feedback and be given the opportunity to resubmit.

If you do not demonstrate competency after resubmission you will be required to re-enrol in that unit.
